The Odd Normal

Despite the conditions we’re now living under I returned to work this week along with getting ready for my exam, which I’d rescheduled last Thursday. I made sure I booked a day off work before this big challenge in my life. I admit I was feeling a little bit edgy and made the decision to reschedule. Now it’s been many years since I took an exam and this being challenging times I never thought I’d have to wear a mask whilst going through many questions within the two hours. It’d also been a while since I rode the tube to the venue, and whilst going through this journey and doing my revision I couldn’t help but notice how quiet and odd everything was. There was less passengers and most people I saw were wearing masks. As I walked down the streets most of the shops were shut. I was in a different part of London and it hit me that lock down was still in progress. The atmosphere along with the weather was enough to depress you. I’d say less people on the tube was a positive and more or less enabled me to focus as tube trains at this time are generally packed.

How I prepared

The exam was in IT. An initial exam into the industry. I prepared by going through my notes and revising each day. Waking up at 5 AM and enduring the slug of studying. I’d say I was determined to pass this just as much as getting my book published. That I had a fire in my belly this week. Now you might be wondering what this has to do with my book. Well this is just an example of life and why certain things have to be priotized. Sacrifices have to be made. I didn’t enjoy waking up early on my days off to get things done but it was a necessarity. The time on my book had to be lessened and while I’d rather be writing and concentrating on my drawing I had to ensure my studying would get done. That any partying would have to be postponed until this battle was over. Another huddle was that a fault developed with my laptop. A small one where the the ‘K’ key kept inputting the number ‘2’ for some unknown reason. I had to send it back to the manufacturer whilst I utilized my desktop. This is a story in itself.

The Game Changer

I’m proud to say that in the years of being kicked in the teeth by life that I actually kicked back and passed. This was kick back for me anther accomplishment despite being under these trying times.
