Thought I’d give an update on what I’m currently doing. Here in the UK we’re slowly coming out of lockdown. Services are being granted bit by bit, and the sun is finally out so we may actually get a decent Summer. It’s also Easter and everyone is hunting for Easter eggs. The eggs are tempting but I decided to give it a miss. I’ve being working throughout. Just like the Easter eggs I wish the sales of my book would pick up but they haven’t. My second novel is still in the pipeline and should be finished before the year ends so fingers crossed another crisis doesn’t impact or slowdown progress. Already I’ve contacted the same editor and they’re more than happy to go through it once the manuscript is complete.
So far I’ve managed to get The Tribulations of Kharman on other platforms other than Amazon such as Google Play Books and Barnes & Noble. I’ve posted in relevant Facebook groups and that’s generated an interest. I’m looking into advertising and it’s my understanding this is another complex part of the business in getting sales or getting the right eyes on your product. Only just completed a course on it so I intend to use the knowledge to leverage my sales on my first novel. Also I’m looking into doing a YouTube video. I already have a channel, which sadly I’ve neglected, but a video could help in creating more awareness.
Issues with Publishing on Other Platforms
Only recently I was accused by Google Play Books of not writing my own book. After about a week of waiting for them to verify my account they accused me of not being the author of my own content. How dare they, I thought. I contested this by sending another email and had to provide proof and sent them an editor’s invoice along with a link, of my book, on another platform. This was very frustrating for me to resolve and at least get through to them as their chat feature was closed half of the time. I didn’t expect this at all.
My book is already copyrighted and if you’re a new author you need to do this in earnest. My method is transferring it onto a USB or disk and mailing it to yourself thereby only using it when you have to.
